The phrase, finally earned. It works on my machine in the cloud. It works on your machine. It works on my client's machine — because the environment is swappable seams, pinned services, and durable runs, not a special box.

Presenter notes

The callback lands, and the curse becomes the product. "It works on my machine" is no longer a shrug — it is a guarantee, because there is nothing special about the machine anymore. It works on my machine in the cloud, because the cloud environment is the same processes and the same seams. It works on your machine, because you plug the same traits into your own vendors — your DocuSign, your storage, your identity, your Restate. And it works for my client, because GKE Autopilot runs the production shape while Postgres and object storage are swapped for their production-grade equivalents, seamlessly. A fork can rebrand it and it still works. The Rails room said "it works on my machine" as an apology; fifteen years, one foundation-governed language, and a law practice later, we get to say it as a promise. That is what going all in on Rust bought a two-person firm: an environment that is not special anywhere, so it works everywhere. Read the code, and hold us to it.
